The Finance Committee of the City Council resolved that iij future employment will be subject to nomination by aldermen, with a preference to city residents. Financial membership of a union is made compulsory, a stipulation which Reform aldermen strongly opposed on the ground that it would lead to abuses and increase the army of aldermanie hangers-on.
