Riccarton. and on Wednedsay lie will open a new primary school at Southbridge. He will return to Wellington on Thursday. The Prime Minister (the Right Hon J. G. Coates) and the lion W. Downie Stewart have accepted the invitation of the New Zealand Association of British Maufacturers and Agents to be the guests of honour at a luncheon to be .given by the members of the association at the Midland Hotel. Wellington. on Friday next. The Hon G. J. Anderson (Minister of Labour. Mines and Marine), will leave Wellington this evening to attend the opening, on Wednesday, of the Dominion Mining Conference at Dunedin. lie will afterwards go to his electorate, and on Friday he vail be entertained at Waikawa at a banquet. Mr Ernest J. Bell has returned to Christchurch after attending the Library Conference in Dunedin. Lord Forster, formerly Governor-Gen-eral of Australia, has been appointed director of the English. Scottish and Australian Bank, says a London mes sage. A Dunedin Press Association message announces the death of Mr P. G. Pryde, secretary of the Otago Education Board for many years. Mr T. R. ITubback. the noted Malay game hunter, arrived at Auckland today by the Aorangi from London, via New York. He will spend about three months in New Zealand, and will fish at Russell and hunt in the South Island. lie hopes to enter the wapit* country and supply Dr Nelson, head of the Biological Survey of U.S.A., with information about wapiti in this counCouncillors E. 11. Andrews and O. W. B. Anderson, and the Town Clerk (Mr J. S. Neville), who will represent the City Council at the Municipal Conference. which opens in the Dunedin Town Hall on Thursday, will leave for the south by the second express tomorrow. The Mayor (Mr J. K. Archer), who is a member of the executive of the Municipal Association, intended to go to the conference but will be unable to do so owing to having a number of important engagements.
