RUBBER SPATS FOR WINTER WEAR.
ALL COLOURS FAVOURED BY THE ULTRA-SMART.
LONDON, December 12. Rubber spats are the latest development in men’s winter footwear. These “ ankle-goloshes,” as the shoemakers are already calling the new spats, are only now being placed on the market. They can be made in any colour. At present there is only fawn and grey, but spats of all the colours of the rainbow are now within reach of the ultra-fashionable. It is predicted that later the new spats will be adapted to women’s useThe spats are waterproof and fit more closely than do the ordinary kind. It is claimed that they are indistinguishable from cloth spats, and it is only necessary to use a damp cloth to Clean them. Brighter underwear is another new fashion this winter. “It has been brought o\'er from France, where hectically coloured underclothes have been fashionable for a long time,” a member of a well-known West End firm said.
