FROTHY ORATIONS UNIMPRESSIVE.
J. H. THOMAS PUTS ACID ON MINERS’ LEADER. By Telegraph—Proas Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received January 30, 3.50 p.m.) LONDON, January 29. Mr J. H. Thomas, in a pungent letter to the “ Daily Herald,” severely criticises the miners’ leader. Mr Thomas says: “ Like the majority of the members of the movement, I long ceased to treat Mr J. A. Cook seriously. I only regret that a great organisation like the Miners’ Federation should day by day have its case ruined by his childish outbursts. When Mr Cook presumes to advise other unions and to criticise the railwaymen’s conference, he should remember that the great mass of trades unionists do not judge the leaders by frothy orations, but by their deliverance of the goods. I am quite content to stand a comparison of my services to the railway men with his to the miners.”
