DRUZES STILL CAUSE TROUBLE IN SYRIA.
POLICE POST SACKED BY SINGING BAND. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Reuter’s Telegrams. (Received December 3, 11.30 a.m.) PARIS, December 2. The Beirut correspondent of the “ Petit Parisien,” describing the situation in Syria awaiting the attention of the new High Commissioner, M. de Jouve.nel, says that the bands of insurgents have been little affected by the sharp French lessons, and they continue to infest Southern Lebanon, stirring up a rising in the Mount Hermon district and threatening the road to Beirut. Their method is to march on a Village accompanied by mules and camels laden with arms and ammunition secretly obtained. They arm and incite the Inhabitants to revolt. They then extend their operations, blowing up bridges and terrorising the Christians.
The correspondent quotes an instance of the intrepidity of the Druzes when a party of twelve recently entered Damascus, racked a police post and departed singing.
