BANK PLANS TO STOP CASHING OF CHEQUES BY UNAUTHORISED PEOPLE.
(Reuter’s Correspondence.) LONDON (Ontario), October 10. A prominent banking concern here has instituted a novel precaution against unauthorised persons cashing cheques. When opening an account at the bank the depositor, while giving a specimen signature. Is requested to add his mother’s maiden name. The system is regarded as nearly “burglar-proof” for very few people are aware of the maiden names of even their closest friends* mothers.
