THE POWER OF THE MOVIE.
BY SIN BAD. The power of the movies is mighty, and no limitations they know, to judge by the tidings from Blighty, the movies are running the show. Though statesmen and leaders may babble, and Bolshevik orators seek to stir to a frenzy the rabble, their efforts arc puny and weak. -\ll else in an orthodox groove is, the magnates may rule for an hour, but still they must vield to the movies, for they are the ultimate power. Of late to Southampton a liner came bearing a film from the States, and some seized a chance to design a boost up for that superfilm's gates; for so that this picture imported, should not from their custody slip, a cavalry squadron escorted the treasure away from the ship. The Premier of France might have landed, with treaties untold in his hand, yet not thus the troops would have banded, to welcome him safe to the land, but just let a seven-reel drama, from Yankeeland travel across, and armies in glory and armour will guard it from damage or loss.
