The nationalisation of the Mar.awatu Gorge Road was urged on the Minister of Public Works (Mr Coates) to-day by n deputation representing the local bodies contributing to its maintenance. The fact was emphasised that the road constituted the national gateway between the eastern and southern portions of the North Island and that it was of real commercial value to the contributing bodies. The Minister said that the matter would be considered.
