Air Lloyd George, addressing a Alctlv odist gathering at .Scarborough, said that the British Empire must n<>t march through the ages bearing thbrand of Cain. It was odd that he had begun to plead for Germany, but he was pleading for justice and fairness, wliich was the British'way. The continual occupation of Cologne was a danger to peace. The breaches ot disarmament which France had discov crcd were insufficient cause for non evacuation. The present pedantic, il liberal, inequitable, oppressive appli cation of the Treaty of \ crsailles waanother peril. There were, a dozen other Europcar disputes-which might lead to war, unless the League of Nations wastrengthenecl. The League must don i natc any Anglo-French Pact.

(Received June 15, 10.30 a.m ) LONDON, June II The Paris correspondent of the “Sunday Times” says: “France’s proposal is so to guarantee peace both to the eastward and westward by arbitration and treaties that in the contingency of German violation, not France only but the League of Nations also must take action against the assailant. Britain’s liability would be limited to the obligations she has already undertaken under the covenant of the League of Nations.
