COMING-OF-AGE PARTY.
At their residence, “.Rawhiti,” Papanui, Mr and Mrs C. Whitley entertained a number of quests at a party recently on the occasion of the coming of age of their daughter Doris. The evening was spent in dancing, games, md mpetitioi , interspe rs ■! with musical items by Misses J. Bates, E. Thorne, D. Whitley, Messrs O. Taylor, W. James, and W. Grenfeil. A dainty supper was served, the table looking most effective with black and white streamers, and black cats and silver horseshoes. In the centre of the table stood a large birthday cake, with twenty-one candles. The usual toasts were honoured. The .competitions were won by Miss E. Thorne and Mr R. F. Martin. The evening closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” Mrs C. Whitley, hostess, wore black jersey silk, finished in red. Miss D. Whitley wore black embossed velvet, relieved with flame feathers, and Miss C. Whitley, jade green maroeain.
