Dr Lilian Storms lias returned to Dunedin from Christchurch. Mrs Fulton is the guest of her sister, Mrs tV. 11. Price, Feudal ton. Miss G. Bowring was a passenger for "Wellington l>v last night’s ferry Mrs Mamilton. Sr Audre v. s Squat e. has returned to Christchurch from an extended holiday spent in "Watan. Sister Turner, Greymouth, is the guest of Mrs J. S. ."Langford. Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Frank Jones. Cashel Street, have left Christchurch for a holiday trip abroad. Mr and Mis Bernard Tripp, Timaru, arrived from the south last evening, and are staving at the United Service Hotel. Miss M. H. Guinness arrived in Christchurch from Culverden last evening and is a guest at the United Service Hotel. Mrs "\\ . Nosworthy, Ashburton, ia sj>endiug a few days in town and is staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Mr and Mrs C. A. Crowe, Geraldine, arrived in Christchurch last evening and are staying at the Clarendon Hotel. On Saturday afternoon a party, in tho form of a gift shower, was given by Mrs Banco Jewell al her home, Rata Street, Riccarton, the guest of honour being Miss Hazel Faville. Competitions, music apd singing \\ ere indulged iii. and later a delicious afternoon tea was served. Those present were—Mesdames Banco Jewell. Charles Taylor, T. C. Faville. J. A. Jewell and J. Hulme, Misses Hazel and Rona Faville, Tui Barnett* Rene Mahon, 'Thelma and Mavis M’Kenzie, Doris Tankard, Flora McDonald, Agnes Richardson, Clarice Gray, Eileen Belcher, Tlielma Thompson, Eileen M’Davitt and Edna Pedder. A party of school children gave a delightful vaudeville entertainment on Saturday evening in aid of Nazareth House and St Saviour’s Orphanage a;> Rennell Bros.’ business premises, Addington. The organisers were Misses Ivy Fowler, Jean llehnell and Edna Scrimpton, assisted by pupils from St Mary’s Convent. Various items were rendered by Misses Edna Scrimpton, Jean Rennell, Ivy. Molly and Eunice Fowler, Masters Noel and James Rennell and Harry Ash; pianist, Mrs Daphney Edo. The company were also supported by Miss Agnes .Richardson and three members of tho Christchurch Savage Club. At th© conclusion Mr F. H. Fowler, on behalf of the audience. expressed his appreciation of the children’s clever entertainment and the cause for which they performed. The funeral of tho late Mrs Mary Young, relict of the late Mi- E. C. l'oung, formerly a well-known resident of Christchurch, took place on Frida v afternoon.. The cortege left St Mary’s Church, Manchester Street, for ih© Bin wood Cemetery, where the remains were interred, the burial service being conducted bv the Rev Father Seymour. The pall-bearers were Messrs J. G. Young (son), J. Henry, A. Bruero, H. Gill and N. Goldsbury Tho chief’ mourners were Mrs A. G. Aldridge, of No 1 Bo.ulcott> Terrace, Wellington (nee Miss Yernie Young). and Mr J. G. Young, of Hamilton. Among the personal friends of tho late Mrs Young who attended the funeral were Mrs Henry, Airs Duifv Air Geo Booth, Mr I lardy Booth, Air J. J. Colonel the Hon G. J. Smith and Mrs Smith arrived from the north this morning. Miss Net Lie Wolf and Miss Cissy Lincoli . left to-da y for a holiday visit to Gore. Mr and Airs A. B. Temple (Gisborne) arrived from the north this morning, and are staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Major and Mrs IT. V. Sewell (Carlisle. England), and Miss Elizabeth Cox (New York Oity.i, arc. overseas visitors staying at Warner's Hotel. Mrs H. It. Clark (Napier) and Air and -Mrs C. E. Williams, of San Francisco, are recent arrivals at the United Service Hotel. Airs G. Leslie Rutherford and Mis> Betty Rutherford, Macdonald Downs, are at present in Christchurch, arid will take up their residence at Sunnier for an extended visit. The Sehvyn Assembly held their usual dance on Saturday evening in the Selwyn Street Hall. There was a large attendance. Miss Tilleyshort’s orchestra provided the music.
