There was a sensation at the Thirsk j races, when it was announced chat i the Jockey Club Stewards had cominis- j sioned a veterinary surgeon to take a • sample of the saliva of Azimuth, which \ finished second in the Thirsk Handicap on Friday. The sample will be sent for expert analysis. Mr O’Sullivan, a New Zealander, and the owner-trainer of Azimuth, declares that there is no sign of anything irregular in the horse’s condition. It has never been tampered with. The Jockey Club will have to defend their action.
