DRUNKEN MAN ASSAULTS HINDU. Pur Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 4. “ A man of this class cannot be allowed to go scot free with a fine,” said the Magistrate at the Police Court to-day, when he sentenced a young man named Bernard Brookes to fourteen days’ imprisonment for being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car, and cancelled his license for twelve months. The accused had collided with a Hindu and his cart, and assaulted the Hindu.
