The Grey Electric Power Board lias completed negotiations for a loan of £50,000 on satisfactory terms through Mr Harman Reeves, of Dunedin. “ There is not a shadow of a doubt that a league football team will be sent awav to England,” said Dr Thacker at the annual dinner of the Manst Brothers’ Old Boys’ Association last night. He added that he hoped that this team would not be called All Blacks. The words All Blacks had been done to death. They were New Zealanders. and proud of it. People in England associated the All Blacks with the Maoris. He- hoped that the League team would be called New Zealanders. A meeting of the New Zealand Food Reform and Anti-Cancer League was held last night, Mr W. R. Devereux presiding over a good attendance. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Dr Truby King: president, Dr H. T. J. Thacker; treasurer, Mr M. Slater; secretary, Mr J. R. Devereux. A number of vicepresidents were appointed and a large committee was set up.
