CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Messrs A. H. Holmes, J.P., and AV. Helliwell, J.P.) DRUNKENNESS. Christina Mills pleaded guilty to a charge of drunken t ess, having uoen previously convicted on February 8. She was fined 10s. in default twentyfour hours’ imprisonment. A REMANDCecil Cyril Grainger, aged twentytwo, was charged with the theft of £1 in money, and a hat valued an xus, at Tai Tapu. On th© application of the chief detective, who stated that other charges are pending, a remand was granted till July 23. BREACHES OF BY-LAWS. Charles AVilliam Anderson, for driving a motor-car without lights, was lined 20s and cost.s 7s. Ernest A\ illiam Archbold, for riding a. mofcor-cyclo in Hagley Park, wa.s fined 20s and costs 7s. Beryl Hope was fined 5s and costs 7s for leaving a, motor-car unattended in. Cathedral Square. Trevor Clarkson pleaded guilty -\ charge of riding a motor-cycle in Holly Road, St Albans, at a dangerous speed—the prosecution alleged thirty-five miles an hour. He was fined 20s and costs. Herbert Simpson. for leaving a motor-car without lights, was fined 20,s Ernest O. Cox, for riding a motorcycle in Hagley Park, was fined 20s and costs. I red Cox was fined 20s and costs for taking a motor-cycle into Hagley Park. Malcolm Cunnccn wa.s fined 40s and costs for having driven a car withoutsecuring a certificate of ability. The following lines were imposed on persons cycling without a light:— Thomas Donne, 10s and costs 7s; Bernard Hammersley, 5s and costs-, Cliff N. Harvey, 5s and costs; Len Hartley, costs only : Denis Hobbs, 5s and costs; Edward Johnson, costs only’; Fred. Keys, 5s and costs; John Mmere. 10s and costs; Herbert Manning, 10s and costs; 33. O. Pat-trick, 10s and costs; Keith Radford, 10s and costs; James C. Richardson, 10s and costs; AVilliam Rollon, 30s and costs; Richard Sharp, 10s and costs ; AA illiam Taylor, 10s and costs 9s. William Mach in, junr., for driving a motor-car ’without a rear light affixed, was fined 10s and costs 7s. Henry T. M’lntosh, for taking a motor-cycle within the limits of Hagley Park, was fined 20s and costs 7s. Peter M’Laughlm, for driving a waggon at night without lights, was lined 20s and costs. Allan Matson was fined 20s and costs for leaving a motor-car without lights. C. L. R. Monk', for not having a. certificate of ability to drive a motorcar, was fined 40s and costs 9s. Charles P. Robb was fined 20b and costs for taking a motor-cycle within the limits of Hagley Park; Ernest Taylor was fined a similar amount. Richard J. T. Sharp, for driving car without lights, was fined 20s and costsPercy AA’illis, for leaving a motor-car without lights, was fined 20b and costs. James Wilson was fined 10s and costs for cycling on the footpath. Harold Bellamy was fined 10s and costs for pillion riding. Benjamin D. Carmichael, for returning to an omnibus stand before thirty minutes had elapsed after his last departure was ordered to pay costs 7s. j Elmo Lyons, for not travelling i:> i fic line of intersection before turning from Colombo Street into Armagh Street, was fined 10s and costs. George Marra, for pillion riding on a motor-cycle, was fined 10s and costs. Edwin E. Pulley pleaded guilty to a charge of driving a car at a speed dangerous to tho public, and was fined 20s and costs 16s. Herbert Smalley, who rode a. motoicyole without having applied for a certificate of ability, was fined 20s and costs. A charge of speeding against Ethelbert G. Bland was dismissed, owing to there being a doubt in the evidence as to the dates. A charge against lan G. Davidson of riding a cycle without a light was dismissed. F- G. Robson, for leaving a motorcar- without lights, was fined 10s and costs. Percival Oliver Smith, for speeding over an intersection, was fined 20s anrl costsCIVIL CASES. (Before Mr H. Y. AViddowson, S.M.) Claims of £29 3s sd, £l5O and £75 were made against three defendants— George Gillespie, R. E. Hooker, and H. G. Gunderson, by Briscoe and Co. : O. vS. M’Cully and Co. and AVilliam Wilkins respectively. The claims were made in respect of work done and materials supplied under a sub-contract-. Judgment was given for the defendants with costs.
