HOTEL WORKERS’ WAGES.

ACCIDENT COMPENSATION. The position of hotelkeepers and hotel employees in respect to board and lodging allowances under the accident insurance schemes of the various companies taking this type of risk was referred to this morning by Mr R. E. Brooks, secretary of the Hotel Work ers’ Union. Mr Brooks said that under the award the wages of employees were paid in three ways—cash, board and lodging. The amount of the hoard and lodging was assessed at 30s in the awaid, but the insurance companies, when paying accident insurance, only allowed £L a week for board and lodging.
