ALLIED CONFERENCE.

COMPROMISE WANTED. By Telegraph— Press Association—Copyright Sydney " Suu * Cab's. (Received July 18, 11.35 a..si.) LONDON, July 17. It is understood that the difficulty respecting the dominions’ representation at the Allied Conference arose from the arranging of a compromise acceptable to the dominions without evoking protests from France and other Allies, who are opposed to each dominion being separately represented, giving the British Empire six votes on contentious matters. The dominions are reluctant to- surrender the separate representation given at Versailles, especially as the present conference is the outcome oe the Versailles Treaty.
