GREAT CONTEST PREDICTED.

E;. Telegraph.— Press Assn.—Copyright.—Aus. and A’.Z. Cable Assn. (Received July 18, 12.30 p.m.) 1 ~ PARIS, July 17. No importance is attached to to-day’s meeting of Weismuller and Charlton. Weismuller made the pace and left Charlton twenty metres behind at 300 metres, hut after that he slowed down. Charlton, swimming in his easiest style, finished well ahead of Smith. In the second semi-final Borg was not troubled and swam with the greatest ease. The American Brewes withdrew. To-morrow's final is regarded as likely to be one of the greatest races in the history of swimming. The three fastest swimmers in the world, holding between them every record up to a mile, are all at top form, and it is impossible to forecast the winner.
