Sir George Paish, presiding ove'r a section of the Advertising Convention, said that the world was suffering from lack of confidence. There could be no confidence till'peace had been restored. France’s financial need was one of the most pressing cause -of the present In-ter-Allied Conference. He thought the nations were with;a sight of the restoration of trade throughout the world, and believed that tliey were entering on a new pel lod of great trade prosperity, probably the greatest the world had ever seen. The peoples of the world, he added, were demanding better conditions of life, and there was no reason why they should not have them. There was enough natural wealth in the world to give- every nian a decent income. Sir George Paish for sixteen years was joint editor of the “ Statist.” Ho is a. governor of the London School of Economics, and during the war was adviser to the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the British Treasury ou financial and economic questions.
