The editor of the newspaper “ People,” replying to Mr Baldwin, : declares that the interview was arranged by the central Conservative office for the purpose of permitting Mr Baldwin to state his policy throughout the country and criticise intrigues. The interview, as published, was an adequate and accurate statement of Mr Baldwin’s views and opinions, with the exception of verbial changes editorially made because the paper could not take responsibility of tlieir publicatio'n.
