MUNICIPAL OFFICES.
MORE MONEY REQUIRED. The City Council decided last night, on the recommendation of the Offices Accommodation Committee, that, as the amount of the administrative block loan will not be sufficient to meet the commitsments in connection with ' the new building, the Finance Committee he given authority to raise the additional 10 per cent on the loan, which will amount - to £SOOO. The committee also reported that a contract had been entered into with Messrs Rennell Bros, for alterations to the main entrance steps. The amount of the contract was £230. and the time of completion was eight weeks from the date of {signing, viz.. May 3. 1924. There had been some delay in laying the floor coverings in the building, but at present the contractors for this work were making steady progress. The contractor for the laying of cork tiles expected to have his work completed within n. fortnight or three weeks, while Messrs John Chambers and Sons had been asked to expedite tlic laying of the battleship linoleum.
