ALLEGED BURGLARY.

TWO MEN REMANDED. A suit that didn't fit was the chief cause of two men being arrested on a charge of burglary last week. The suit was alleged to have been stolen, f'cm a house at Aferivale and the wearer and his companion were taken along to the detective office, where a charge of breaking, entering and theft was made out against them. The men were Thomas Aloody, alias Williams, alias James, thirty-six years of age, and James .Joseph Boyce, twenty-three years of age. The persons whose houses are alleged to have been broken into are as follow ; Mrs F. J. Barrett, 89. Holly Road, Aierivale. Airs F. A. Storer, 48, Papanui Road, Ale r i vale. H. F. M‘ Kay. S2, Winchester Street, Aierivale. Mrs S. A. Smith, 612, Cashel Street, Li nwood. I.ast week, the men were brought before the Court and were remanded for seven days. This morning, they were charged before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.. with having on Alay 7, 1924. at Linwood, broken into the dwelling of Sarati Anne Smith and stolen a gold watch and sealskin chain, a match box, a camera, a metal watch, and seal skin chain, a wristlet watch, two gold rings, a quantity of foreign coins and £2 16s in money, to the total value of £32 os, the property of one Charles Smith. Detective Connolly asked for a remand till Alay 21 as there were other charges pending against accused. The remand was granted.
