The fact that the public service was losing a great many of the most promusing college girls, who desired to go into offices, but were barred from doing ro through th<°ir ignorance of typewriting, was stressed bv Miss M. M’Lean. principal of the Wel'ington Girls' College, at tho annual meeting of ihe Secondary Schools' Association yesterday. states a Press Association telegram. On behalf of the College Miss M'Lean moved- That this association protests against results in the public service examination being ignored as far as girls are. concerned in the. matter of appointments to clerical divisions of the public service, also girls being excluded from examination. ' The motion ~ was carried.
