Advices from Lorenzo Marquez report that a sensational affair occurred at Rcssano Garcia, where Main Lore ira. head of the Portuguese Customs Department, was fatally stabbed by his native cook when he intervened in n violent quarrel between the cook and his fellow servants. Loreira was brought to Lorenzo. Marquez. where he died in the hospital. The residents of llessano Garcia were infuriated by the occurrence, and took the mativo rook fron- gaol and beat him to death. They then threw his body into the river.

Lorenzo Marquez is in Delagoa Bay Portuguese South Africa.
