WESTMINSTER GLEE SINGERS.
LEAVE FOR ENGLAND SHORTLY. The success achieved in this country on their fijot visit was repeated by the M estmiuster Glee Singers througiiout Australia, and in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Berth and Brisbane concert records were established. Mr Branecombc now announces that he has arranged a farewell visit to Christchurch, commencing in the Choral Hall on Saturday. and extending to Wednesday. All of the members of the Westminster Glee Singers belong to the London Col - lege of Choristers and the principal cathedrals of England, and were only granted a certain leave of absence from their duties, but- Mr Branscombe succeeded in obtaining a. short extension, and thus New Zealanders will have anj other opportunity of hearing the Westminsters ere they leave for England direct. Three new bov sopranos, Boland and Thomas Mayne and Arthur Valentine, have been added, and these, with Edmund Walter (soloI ist), Alebrt Cooper (soloist). Lesjhe Snow* and Ronald Thompson, j complete the juvenile section of the company. The following is the adult section :—Messrs Donald Reid and William Lowry, male altos ; Messrs Edward Branscombe. Ellis Vizard and George Pownall, tenors; Messrs John Andrews and Alfred Cunningham, basses. Gems from an entirely new re pertoire will be presented during the season, including solos, duets, quartettes, glees, madrigals, anthems and Old English folk songs, and the entertainment will consist of delightful music, old and new, grave and gay. Music students, choral bodies, church choirs and scholars from schools and colleges are offered very liberal concessions. The box plans for the season will open at The Bristol on Wednesday next.
