As the result of a discussion by the Burwood Progressive Association the attention of the W&imairi County Council is to be drawn to the fact that roots of trees o*. tho footpath between Burwood Hall and Fraser’s Avenue are dangerous to pedestrians. An appeal was received by the Cheviot County Council from the Canterbury Progress League for funds to assist the publicity campaign to be undertaken in connection with the Empire Exhibition. Alembers considered that too many calls were being made on the ratepayers, and the letter was received. • • Advice has been ’received, by tho Cheviot County Council from the Canterbury Progress League that the representations for improved railway service on the Parnassus branch had been placed before the railway committee, but to date the department had not arrived at a decision. The council expressed disappointment as much delay was taking place in the transit of goods 'and it was decided to make further application.
