PERSONAL. Hie Lyttelton District High School will lose after the term holidays five teachers and assistant teachers. Miss H. M. Fraser, who has taught at the school for a number of years and lately had charge of Standard IV., will transfer to Sydenham to take charge c>L {Standard -V. ; Miss D. S. Harrison, who has been acting as substitute teacher for a term of twelve months and has been in charge of Standard •1., is also leaving. Miss I. M. Green and Messrs S. W. Gower, H. A. Taylor and C. A. Hill, pupil-teachers, will enter the training college next year. VALEDICTORY. On Wednesday afternoon the opportunity was taken by the 1923 proficiency pupils to express their gratitude and appreciation of the services of Mr W. G. Napier, when he was presented on behalf of the scholars with a wellfilled tobacco pouch and pocket wallet. Master Keith Gowen made the presentation. On Wednesday evening, after tlie choir practice at the Holy Trinity Church, the choir made a presentation of a case of Loewe pipes to Mr J. W. A. Walker, who for the past three years has acted as choir-master. The presentation was made by the Rev A. J. Petrie, Mr Walker suitably responding. HOLIDAY FERRY SERVICE. The traffic this year is so heavy that the Union Steam Ship Company are putting on an extra feri;y steam©r to cope with the week-end passengers. The company announced last evening that the Mararoa will leave Wellington this evening with the overflow passengers from the Wahine. Both the Wahine and Mararoa will berth on Saturday at the west side of the ferry wharf. The Wahine will temporarily bo transferred to the east side of No 3 wharf, while the Mararoa berths. Both vessels will leave the west side of the ferry wharf on Saturday night on the arrival of the second express.
