A Christchurch coal merchant stated last evening that, though supplies from th© West Coast were still restricted on account of labour disputes, th© position iu tho city as fa r as fuel for in dustries was concerned was fairly satisfactory. This was duo to the re eeipt of regula?- shipments from Aus tralia. Tt was fortunate, however, that the demand for household purposes was small at th© present time.
