MR M. L. READING RESIGNS THE EDITORSHIP. Mr M. L. Reading, for private reasons, has decided that a change ijf residence is desirable, and will probably go to Australia. He has consequently resigned the position of Editor-in-Chief of the “ Lyttelton Times ” and “ Star,” which he has he’d for nearly ten years past. In resigning, Mr Reading has expressed his regret at the pending change and his appreciation of the very cordial relations that have existed throughout between the directors of the company and himself. He extends his best wishes for the future of the “Lyttelton Times” and “Star” and all concerned. The directors, in accepting Mr Reading’s resignation, have stated that, individually and collectively, they extend good wishes for his future happi ness and success. The resignation will take effect within the next few months, on a date to be mutually arranged, as meeting the convenience of the company and suiting Mr Reading’s plans. Mr Reading succeeded Mr S. Saunders as editor of the “ Lyttelton Times” in the early part of 1914. He was the originator of the policy cf domestic war loans, and it was through the persistent advocacy of this policy in the “ Lyttelton Times,” against strenuous opposition for several months, that New Zealand raised war loans within the Dominion to the tune of scores of millions. In 1918 Mr Reading was one of the New Zealand members of a com pany of editors from oversea portions of the Empire who visited Great Britain and the Western war front as the guests of the British Government.
