LONDON BEEF TRADE.
BEING CAPTURED BY SOUTH AMERICA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received December 6. 9.55 a.m.) LONDON. December 5. The Central News Agency says that Mr Bruce’s contention that the Australian meat trade is being captured bv Argentina is amply borne out by an analysis of the supplies of meat to the London central markets for the eleven months of 1923. Australian and New Zealand beef supplies in that period declined by 9086 tons as compared with a similar period of 1922. whilst .South American supplies increased l»y 19.452 tons. The Australian and New Zealand mutton supplies have decreased hy 10.800 tons and South American have increased by 9437 tons.
