.Per Press Association. AA ELLINGTON. November 3. ■ At the Supreme Court to day Edward | William Phillips was found guilty of J bigamy and was sentenced to twelve I months’ imprisonment. Counsel, on be half of the second woman, asked, for leniency for prisoner. Mr Justice Reed said that he had a j public duty to perform in warning men • who came out from the Old Countrj and married New Zealand women under i false pretences. Had it not been fo- ! the jury’s recommendation and the fart j that- accused's wife would suffer bv his j detention, he would have passed a ] longer sentence.
