INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENT *“ GROWING. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. MANILA. October 27. The political situation has grown more tense with the resignation of the four appointed members of the Legislature designated by Governor-General Wood, on the ground that they were unable to agree with the latter’s policy The resignations are considered a distinct victory for the independence movemen t. Those resigning announced that all hope of co-operation between the executive and legislative departments of the Philippines had been lost. Plans are proceeding for sending two missions to the United States to plead for Philippine independence. Meanwhile repoiffs continue that the Moro uprising is widespread throughout Mindanao, and more serious than ever before.
