BIG FIRE IN SYDNEY.

Fire broke out near midnight at John Danks’s hardware premises in Pitt Street, a couple of streets away from the Central Railway Station. The damage is estimated at over £60,000. Two firemen were injured, one of them (J. Houston) falling through a, covered skylight on the fourth floor to the bottom. The flames by one o’clock had eate i their way from the top floor through the building, the fire fighters being compelled to direct all their energies to preventing the neighbouring buildings in a congested block from catching fire,
