CHINESE BANDITS ACTIVE.
RAILWAY STATION SACKED AT KUANTUNG. INSURGENTS DRIVEN OFF BY TROOPS. —— i By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.—Reuter's Telegrams. (Received October 25, 9.50 a.m.) PEKIN. October 24. The “ Pekin Daily News ” reports that 500 bandits sacked the Kuantung Station, southward of Cheng-chow. The express train from Hankow arrived at Kuantung during the raid, but retreated, the bandits firing on it. Some bullets struck the cars, but did no damage. Troops were sent to Kuantung soon after the raid. Fighting ensued, the bandits being driven off. According to the official report, the stationmaster and family at Kuantung are missing. The afternoon train from Hankow also failed to arrive at Pekin.
