The southerly gale which raged over the Wellington district a couple of days last week was responsible for considerable mortality amongst sheep, states the “ Post. In one case alone several hundred sheep, which had been shorn a couple of days earlier when the weather was warm and humid, died as the result of the cold snap that the southerly brought with it.
