A sensational murder trial has been in progress. charged with strangling a prominent Socialist, Osugi. his wife and his seven-year-old nephew. Osugi and his wife ami nephew were arrested with others described as dangerous characters, and who wore mainly leading Labourites, immediately after the earthquake. It was stated that the bodies were dumped down a well. Amaksu confessed, declaring that he acted for the good of Japan, thinking that holders of dangerous opinions like Osugi imperilled the State in time of calamity.
