After six weeks’ further search, the police arrested the valet of Count mainder of the missing jewels. The police first searched the valet at the Riviera, but lie escaped. Thev then traced him to a farmhouse near Turin. The police surrounded the farm at night time and found the valet asleep. The jewels were in a cupboard together wits a largo sum of money. The Roman police, who traced the valet to the Riviera, earn Count Giustiniani’s reward offered for the recovery of the jewels valued at £BO.OOO.
