CHANGES IN LEAGUE.

The eelction of Czecho-Slovakia instead of China as one of six non-per-manent members of the Council of the League of Nations for the ensuing year, which was due to the- activity of the Ozecbo-Slovakian representative. Doctor Benes, on the Reduction of Armaments Committee, led to a protest by the Chinese Delegation which complains that the principle of geographical distribution of non-perman-ent members has not been respected. The Council has been deprived of cooperation of at least one Asiatic state and fears that the Far Eastern States may he discouraged and hopes that the possible consequent lack of interest in the League in China will not chancre into temporary abstention which would be most regrettable in the interests of all.
