CORFU EVACUATED.

FLEET AWAITS PAYMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Reuters Telegrams. ROME, September 27. The Italians did not complete the evacuation of Corfu. The troops left but the Italian squadron tvas ordered to remain anchored in the roadstead until Italy had actually received the 50,000,000 lire payable by Greece.

ENTHUSIASM AT CORFU. ATHENS, September 27. Great enthusiasm was displayed by the population of Corfu over the evacuation. The Italian flag was lowered amid salutes from the Italian and Greek fleets and the Italian flagship saluted the Greek flag when it was hoisted. Forty thousand of the population welcomed the Governor on landing and carried him shoulder high to the prefecture. In Athens the news of the evacuation had little effect, owing to the general depression resulting from Italy obtaining practically everything she de manded.
