DAIRY CONTROL BILL.
DISCUSSED BY FARMERS. (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON X.. May 4. The Dairy Farmers’ Union Conference considered th® Dairy Control Bill. Mr Cobbe (Feilding) moved, on behalf of the committee set up to go into the matter: “ That this conference while strongly approving of the principle of the Dairy Control Bill, draw; attention to the danger of permit-tin < subsection 8 of clause 11 to remain in its present form. One-tliird of dairy produce is subject to contracts extend i H i- over periods from two to four years, and the effect of this on the London market possibly would be to allow consigning agents to ‘ bear ’ the market against produce sent, forward by the proposed board.'’ An amendment was moved : “ Thai the resolution be amended by the deletion of all words after * its present form.’ ” Subsequently the amendment was agreed to unanimously. It also was resolved that representatives on the control board be appointed by the dairy producers of this country. A resolution was carried: “That this conference recommends to co-operative dairy companies that they undertake herd testing, that the cost be borne by the companies and that a conference of directors of the same be convened for the purpose of furthering the scheme."
