SCHOOL ROLL OF HONOUR. Two wings were added to the Roll of Honour of the Bury Street School this week, and the memorial is. now considered complete. The names of the. men are as follows :—Right wing—H. E. Ad more, A. Barr, S. F. Carver, H. B. Carter. AV. I. Carter, H. Cleworth (killed in action), W. C. Cowry, E. R. Deacon, S. E. Deacon, G. At the Anzac Day ceremony fully one hundred ancl fifty wreaths, crosses and other floral emblems were placed by the scholars beneath the board. ! ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of householders in both schools of tho borough were well attended. At Bury Street, the Hon -J. Bair. M.L.C., presided over an attendance of about one hundred and twenty. A very comprehensive report was submitted by the chairman, ■ Mr G. A. Committee was appointed to act with i the School Committee in an endeavour j to raise £250 for the further improve- ! ment of the buildings:—Hon J. Barr. ! and Messrs J. Longton, T. E. Whit- | field. J. Brown, H. C. Jones, P. T. | Dick, J. Lee and H. G. Bailey. The j election of tlie committee resulted as I follows: —Mesdames Barber, Lee and | Smith, Mesrs G. A. Alexander. C. S. | Booth. J. Glaekin; visiting committee, Af.esdames Barber. T/ce and Smith ; grounds supervisor. Air G. F. Newman. The regtlPlr meeting was fixed for the second Alonday in the month. At Redd iff s the report of the year’s work was read by the secretary. Mr AV. H. Etheridge, and a very satisfactory state of affairs was disclosed, including *:hose connected with the com-munft-v hall. The election resulted as follows :—Messrs R. W. Britton. H. NeHleton. A. Holden, AV. H. Etheridge and vS. H. Thomas, and Alesdames O. A. Cfoo'ds and A. Sutherland. Air Etheridge was re-elected secretary and treasurer, and Air S. 1-f. Thomas was elected chairman. Eulogistic reference given l>y Air A. Holden as chairman, who was not seeking re-election. The first shoot of the .season' was held on Thursday evening, when there was a large attendance of members. The new rifles proved very satisfactory and a number of good scores were recorded. Airs F. Tnistcott won the prize for the highest score of the evening. Next Saturday members of the club will journey to Charter is Bay to try conclnsions with the ladies across the harbour. LTF.E-SAV.I NO CLUB. The second annual dance is to be hold in the Town Hall on AVednesday next when a pleasant evening is anticipated Excellent- music will be supplied bv Cla-rkson’s Band.
SUMNER LADIES’ GUILD. The members of the Sumner Ladies' Guild of the Seamen’s Institute visited Lyttelton on Thursday evening and gave an entertainment at the Institute. An excellent programme was rendered, the following contributing items: Mis* Miller. Mr Block : pianotort solos, Mr and Mrs Lee: duet, Miss Oldvidge; recitation, Miss Pearce; song, Mrs West: pianoforte solo, Miss Hobson and Miss Grant : solos. After the concluion of the programme, supper was provided by the ladies of the guild. The president. Mrs Smithson, thanked Messrs W. G. Black and -T. Lee who conveyed the party to Port- in their cars. SENIOR CADETS. The local/ cadecs parade on Anznc Day and abended the service at the Anglican Church. There was a good muster. On arrival at the church a wreath was presented to be hung over the Roll of Honour. COUNCIL ELECTIONS. Interest in the council elections was very keen, and the effort made on polling day was a record. The final results for the Mayoralty gave Mr W. H. Nicholson a majority of 202. his totals being Sumner 412 and Redd iff s 237. while Mr T. E. Whitfield polled 216 and 231 at the respective booths. PERSONAL. Miss T. Lawrence has returned after a lengthy period of convalescence in the city. Miss Selbv is again co-operating with Messrs F. R. and W. S. Want-hop in the teaching of ballroom dancing, the classes commencing on May 9.
