MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

CHRISTCHURCH. TO-DAY’S CASES. (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowaon, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A statutory first offender was fined 26*. the amount of his bail, in default forty eight hours’ imprisonment. Two first offenders were similarly dealt with. YOUTH IN TROUBLE. Joseph Soloman, aged seventeen, appeared to answer three charges. The first was that on April 1-5 he stole from the dwelling of David Blackie the sum of £l3. The second was that on April 12 at Dunsandel he tendered upon the New Zealand Farmers’ Co op. a cheque for £9, purporting to be signed by one John Stevens. The third was that, on April 12, he broke and entered at Dunsandel the dwellmg of John Stevens and stole therefrom 9s in silver, and two blank cheques. On the application of Senior-Detec-tave T. Gibson the accused was remanded to appear on April 25. CIVIL BUSINESS. UNDEFENDED CASES. Judgment was given for the plaintiff by default in the following cases:— James Lynn v. R. J. Duncan, £5 6s; M. Roud and Son were ordered to pay Morrison Bros. £1 ss, in default two days’ imprisonment. TENANCY. Maud Johns was ordered to give up possession of a tenement to George Hiekmott within fourteen days. An order was also made for the payment of £32 os owing.
