ITALY’S CROMWELL.
HOW MUSSOLINI RULES. LONDON, April o. The Premier of Victoria (Mr Lawson), during bis tour of Italy, met Signor Mussolini, head of the Fascists and of the Italian Government. Mr Lawson asked him, how. with only 35 followers, ho dominated a Parliament of over 500 members, comprising 14 parties. “ T find difficulty with- throe parties,” explained Mr Lawson. Signor Mussolini, through his secretary. who acted as interpreter, answered; “ I told them that 1 had got 60,000 men ready to die for Italy, that T intended to do what I had set out to do. and that they could go on a holiday; I would send for them when I wanted them.” Mr Lawson was struck by the faith and admiration for Mussolini shown in the Italian cities he visited. “ Mussolini knows what he wants,” he adds. “If courage arid determination will enable him to get it lie will succeed. A man who can inspire a people’s loyalty 'which breaks out in the warmest affection must be a strong personality.” Mr Lawson inspected the Doges’ Palace at Venice. The director introduced him as the “ President of the Australian Republic.”
