AUTUMN MEETING. FIRST DAY. The autumn meeting- of the New Brighton Trotting Club was commenced to-day in fine but dull weather, and with a good attendance for au off day. The track was in excellent order. Results : IMPROVERS’ HANDICAP (in harness). Of 126 so vs ; second horse 24 sovs and third horse 12 sovs from the stake. Unhoppled trotters; class 3.45. Cousin Jenny was first to show out but Queen Ida joined her after going two furlongs. At the end of half a mile St Anthony was in first place and a little further on he took the lead while Young Blake was closing up fast. Three furlongs from home Young Blake was in second place, but St Anthony easily held the lead and won by ten lengths. Young Blake* beat Nelson Bell by a length, with Queen Tda and Cousin Jenny next. Trenand was first to‘ take charge, followed by George Grafton, Nelson M’Corrnaok and Kodol. At the end of half a mile Nelson M’Oormack and Vera Logan were showing the way to Trenand, Dolly Doyle and George Grafton, who were joined by Phil Smith a little further on. Three furlongs from home Phil Smith moved up fast, joining Dolly Doyle and Vera Logan in the lead. Eric Rothschild put in his claim in the straight and beat Phil Smith by a length, with Vera Logan two lengths away, followed by Trenand and Bingen Wilkes. There was little change till six furlongs from home, where Adair was headed by Peter King and Royal Oak. At the entrance to the straight. Colenut and Royal Oak were in front, with Taraire at the head of the others. Once in the straight Taraire went on and won comfortably by a length from Royal Oak. with Peter King three lengths away, followed by Paul Dufault, Adair, Event and .Colenut, in a bunch. Times—4min 32 3-ssec, -Imin 37 -4-ssec. 4min 38 4 SEA VIEW HANDICAP , (in saddle), Of ISO sovs; second horse 36 sovs and third horse 18 sovs from the stake. Class 4.48. Two miles. 7—Mr A. J. Fine’s ch in RENOWN, by Advance—Lady Elga, aged, 12yds behind (D. Bennett) 1 4—Mr R. W. Nun nick's b m NIBBI- - DARD. by Coal King—Lady Teddington, aged, scr (A. G. Wilson) 2 I—Mr D. Gentleman Wood led Nibbidard and Kotiro for half a mile, when Nibbidard took charge, while Prospect was in fourth place. There was no change till six furlongs from home, when Gentleman Wood dropped out. Renown taking fourth place. Renown was just behind Nibbidard and Prospect at the home turn. Renown broke 1 again' o anVi U ’ won ' Yomlortablj- by three lengths, Nibbidard beating Prospect by half a length, with Kotiro and St Hubert next. Times—lmin 17 3-ssec, lmin 49sec, Imin 46 l-ssec.
