Mr J. L. Morgan, assistant railway manager, Auckland district, has been promoted to the position of district traffic manager at Greymouth. Mr J. Cameron, chief clerk at Auckland, manager there. Mr J. Mr Taylor has devoted the past fifteen years to Y.M.C.A. work, for seven years of which he ably filled the post of secretary in Wanganui. A favourable report on the Concert Hall proposal was received by the City Council last evening from the Citizens* Committee which had considered the matter. It was decided to refer the report to a joint meeting of the Citizens’ Committee and the council's Offices’ Committee. The Council also voted £SO towards the cost of advertising tbe proposal. Bishop V. S. Azariah, the first native Indian consecrated a bishop of the Anglican Church, will be a passenger by the Ormuz, due at Sydney on May 8, and from Sydney he will come on to New Zealand, arriving at Wellington on May 15. Bishop Azariah is now chief pastor of the Telugu Church in South India. The Christian community in the Telugu country, reckoned a s 19.000 in 1871, rose to 144,000 in 1881. to 220.000 in 1901, 342.000 in 1011 and has now a considerably higher figure. Tbe official title of the visitor is Bishop of Dornakal. Besides attending the Church Congress and the Wellington Missionary Exhibition, he will visit each diocese and will speak in all the large centres.
