The market is affected by heavy supplies of cheap chilled beef. The best New Z< aland lamb meets with steady demand, but secondary descriptions are very slow I owing to large quantity of Australian on hand. There is a steady demand at firm prices for prime mutton unlder 561 b, but a decidedly weaker tone for heavier descriptions; over 64ib particularly are slow. There is no demand for ewes except the best light-weight. Large supplies of 80ib River Plate wethers offered in the market and selling at about 5d a lb. New Zealand frozen beef nominally unchanged. New Zealand 'Mutton.—Under 561 b 9d to 9sd : 56-641 b Bifl to S|d; 64-721 b 7d; over 721 b 53d to 6d. Liverpool and Bristol were:—Canadian 6.700 boxe< against 43.500 New Zealand and Australian 13,590 ♦•rates against 74,330 for same time last year. HEMPThe Manilla market, is dull and prices are l«wer. " G " grade April-Tune shipments are quoted at. £36 los a ton. " -T grade is quoted at £34 per ton. The output from •Tap nary 1 to March 31 totalled 373,000 bales against 278,000 for same period last year. Stock* in Manilla at the end of March were i23.onn against 239.000 bales for same time last year. Stocks in T.ondon and Liverpool total 5479 bales against 17.485 last year. The New Zealand market is easier in sympathy with Manilla. Nominal values spot Highpoints April-June shipments are £35 and Fair £3l 10s a ton. WOOL The Bradford market has a firm tone. There is a fair business in low aud medium.

The yarding of eheep at the Rangiorr market to-day was comprised of 1229 fai lambs, 358 fat ewes and wethers, an* about 1200 stores. The fat lambs wer< easier in price, the sales made being equal to 9jd per lb. Prime lots made 28s to 29s 6d, medium weights 26s lOd to to 27s 9d. light 24s lOd to 26s 3d. Ewes ranged from 15s to 23s 6d, and wethers 27s to 33s .6d.
