THE OPENING DAY. (Pew Press Association.) CAMBRIDGE, March 7. j j The Waikato Central A. and P. Aasooia- ! tion's twentieth annual show opened at i Cambridge to-ctav in fine weather. The i fcbow is good all round. The hacks mid I hunters are a strong class, also carriage and harness horses. The juvenile section is a specially attractive feature. Excellent entries have been received for the horse competitions. The Milking Shorthorns, Friesians and Jersey cattle are all splendid i classes, with large entries. Field roots j ami vegetables are fairly well represented, j while home industries are a specially j\t--1 tractive feature of the show. The attend ' * auce t lay wa fair, but a very large croud is expected t.-moiTOtt for People's Day.
Lake Coleridge, Mr P. R. Climie re. ported to the Progress League’s executive last night, has reached overflow level, 1670.1 feet. The present maxi, mum demand, he said, was 8570 kilowatts. and as the present capacity of tlie station was 9000 kilowatts there was no great urgency for putting the sixth unit int-o operation, although it would be ready in a few weeks. The Harper River was running about 400 euaecs. Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., has been advised by the education authorities that the extensions to the New Brighton schools, authorised by the Minister in response to representations made by Mr Sullivan, will be commenced next week. The New Brighton School accommodation is overtaxed to Tl degree greater at the present time than at. any other period in its history. and the extended accommodation is very badly required
