OVER THE BANK.
MOTOR ACCIDENT ON OTIRA ROAD. FIVE PERSONS INJURED. (Special to the “ Star.”) GREYMOUTH, March 7. Five people Avere injured through a motor-car overturning on the Otira road near Aicken’s last evening:— Mrs Fraser, Timaru, a broken leg. Air Fraser, Timaru, two ribs broken. Air ALann, Christchurch, shoulder damaged. Aliss Pickett, severe bruises. . Air Clements, driver, abrasions r n face. The Otira express was held up xo bring the injured and other passengers | to Greymouth, and on arrival Air and ! Mrs Fraser were taken in the ambulance to the hospital. The other passengers receded medical attention front the Otira doctor. Those who were aiso in the car but escaped unhurt were: Air and Airs G. A. Perry and child, Aliss Alandl, Airs Pickett, Mr R. Perham. Air J. A. Murdoch, Air W. Farrar and Air Barraelough. The car, one of Clements’, Ltd., motor omnibuses, left the road about half a mile from Aicken’s, fell about six or seven feet and then turned over. The driver was cut about the face from broken glass, and Miss Pickett was pinned under the car. Tho assistance of passengers in another motor-car had to he obtained before she could be extricated. Air and Airs Fraser could net walk, and they had to be taken to the van in stretchers. It is stated that the edge of the road crumbled under the car Avheels. The I hood Avas smashed in after striking tho | ground., but it probably prevented several of the other passengers from being injured. An infant in arms had a lucky escape.
