LONDON TO PARIS SERVICE. By Telegraph Press Association —Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 11, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, October 10. The Civil Aviation Department, early in 1923. will commence a night flying service to Paris, in order to test the degree regularly attainable. August 2G was the third anniversary of the setting up of the aeroplane service to Paris for civilians. In the three years it is calculated that five thousand trip* have been made across the Channel, and at least 1-1,000 passengers nave been carried. On the whole it must be admitted that flying has shown a remarkable degree of safety, says the “ "Westminster Gazette ” in noting the anniversary. There have been accidents; but the percentage of nlatities is very much what it is in other modes of travelling. Yet people | are still reluctant to avail themselves j of the air .service, and it is carried on ) in dace of constant financial difficulties.
