What wae thought to be th© best school function ever held in Oust took place on Friday evening in the Gust Institute? Hail, when the school child ren held a fancy dress ball. The dresses worn by the children could scarcely have been better, and their dancing showed that they had received most careful training. The Grand March was especially well done. The Well Dance, by the senior girls, received well merited applause. The chairman, Mr Tallott, thanked the teachers for the excellent way in which they had trained the children, and also thanked the musicians, Mr and Mrs Peachy, for the time they had devoted to the children. Mr Mackenzie, replying for the teachers, said that practically the whole of the work had fallen to Miss Walker, the head mistress, and her assistant-, Miss Cowens. He thanked the parents for the trouble they had gone to with the children’s dresses Over £2l was taken and this amount is for the improvement of the school ground.
